Day Trip to Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens

Leaving at 10:00 AM from the
Annandale United Methodist Church
6935 Columbia Pike, Annandale

Enjoy a special opportunity to admire the water lilies and lotus in full bloom. The park, created in the early 1900’s, is now run by the National Park Service. We will have a 45 minute tour of the gardens led by a Park Ranger.

Adventure in Learning classes will be in the Fellowship Hall. Go back down the elevator. Turn left after you exit the elevator and go immediate left into the Fellowship Hall.

There is plenty of parking at the United Baptist Church including Handicapped parking. Enter the United Baptist Church on the West side of the building. To get to the West side pass the church building as you are driving West on Columbia Pike and turn right into the parking lot. Additional parking is available as you continue around the building.

Enter the building through the glass doors on the west side of the building off Columbia Pike. Once you enter the building you will take the elevator to go to the left at the end of the entrance hall upstairs to the 2nd floor. Once you get to the 2nd floor turn left and go down the hall on the left . At the end of the hall is a small parlor room where the Yoga class will be held.

The entrance to the parlor is straight ahead at the end of the hall through a double set of dark wood doors. The registration will be in the Fellowship Hall. Go back down the elevator. Turn left after you exit the elevator and go immediate left into the Fellowship Hall.

The Program

9:15 – 10:20 am -- Easy Does it Yoga for Seniors, led by Bonnie Kendrick and Pamela Wilson

10:20-10:30 Refreshment Break

10:30 – 11:30 am --World War II Memories

11:30 - 12:00 Refreshment Break

12:00 – 1:00 pm -- Multiple area cultures, traditions, and lifestyles

Snacks and a light lunch will be provided each day.

Registration

The cost for the seven-week program is only $45. This payment entitles you to attend one or all of the classes on each Wednesday during the fall term.

The Adventures in Learning Program is sponsored by The Shepherd’s Center of Annandale Springfield and is open to all ages 50 or older. 

If you or anyone you know, would like to participate, but find it to be a financial burden, assistance is available. 

Inclement weather policy: If Fairfax County Public Schools are closed or have a delayed opening due to bad weather, our classes are cancelled for that day and we try to reschedule those classes.
