Volunteer for the Shepherd's Center
At the Shepherd's Center of Annandale-Springfield, we are helping senior adults to continue to live independently by providing services such as transportation for medical appointments and other essential tasks. Please join us in this effort and really make a difference in the life of someone in your community.
Volunteer opportunities:
Drivers are desperately needed to take seniors to medical appointments. If you have some time and a car, this is a great chance to make a real difference in someone’s life. Drive only when and as often as your schedule will allow.
Helping Hands and Friendly Callers. Volunteer to do minor repairs or chores for someone who needs just a little help to stay in their home. Or, just volunteer to be a friendly voice to check up on someone alone at home. We have had to suspend these services due to a lack of volunteers, but we know there is a real need. Help us to meet these needs. These are easy ways to touch a life.
Office Help. We can use one or more additional volunteers to help with basic tasks in the Shepherd’s Center office. This could be one day each week, or just an occasional day as needed. No special skills are needed, just a willingness to pitch in. We'll provide all the training you need.
How to volunteer?
It's easy! Just call the SCAS office at 703-941-1419 any weekday between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM, or e-mail us at shepherdscas@vacoxmail.com.
If we had more people like her (a Shepherd's Center volunteer driver), life would be so much easier.
It's nice to know that there are still people who take such a pleasure in doing special things and making others feel good.
-- Just a few appreciative comments from Shepherd's Center clients.
